You can spot it from anywhere on the beach: a tower with a forest pouring down one side. M Hotel Danang is the green-draped high-rise on My Khe, and it's become one of the most photographed buildings in the city for a simple reason ... there's nothing else like it on the strip.
The building
Designed by Vietnamese firm Ho Khue Architects and completed in 2023, M Hotel is a study in biophilic design: roughly 5,000 square meters of planting woven up and across the facade, a literal vertical garden. The architects describe the concept as a stream flowing over a rocky mountain, and from the sand that's exactly how it reads ... greenery cascading down concrete. It's 25 stories over two basement levels, 23,500 square meters in total, shot here by architectural photographer Hiroyuki Oki.
The rooms and the pools
Inside are 199 rooms, ranging from 35 up to 100 square meters, finished in dark timber, stone, and concrete, with sculptural stone tubs and balconies that open onto greenery and the sea. The headline feature is up top: twin rooftop infinity pools, one cantilevered straight out over the coastline. One faces the sunrise over the Lady Buddha on the Son Tra Peninsula, the other the sunset over the city. The lobby sets the tone ... raw concrete, marble, and indoor trees under angular skylights.
The location
It sits at 236 Võ Nguyên Giáp, a few steps from My Khe Beach, surrounded by the cafes, restaurants, and nightlife of the An Thuong area. M Hotel is M Group's flagship and part of M Hotels & Resorts ... the same group behind Maia Beach Bar just down the sand.
Why it matters
M Hotel is a marker of where Da Nang's beachfront is heading: not just taller, but more designed. A homegrown architecture firm putting a biophilic landmark on the skyline says the city is starting to build for identity, not only for rooms. Whether or not you stay, it's one of the buildings that makes the My Khe skyline its own.
